Dip a washcloth into a bowl of cool (not freezing cold) water add 1/2 cup white vinegar and apply to your child forehead and rest of the body to bring down body temperature. For a tasty home remedy for fever, replace lost fluids with Popsicles or frozen fruit juice bars – a perfect remedy for small children. Sweating during a fever leads to the loss of fluids. Drink fruit juices and lemonade to keep the body hydrated.
Hydrate the body and tackle other symptoms by drinking an apple-water concoction. First, you need to peel, skin, core, and slice three apples (preferably a sweet variety). Place the apple slices in a pan filled with 3 ¾ cups of water. Boil the contents of the pan, and the simmer until the apples start to feel mushy. Remove the pan and strain the contents, making sure not to press the apple puree into the liquid. Add two tablespoons of honey to the drink before consuming.
Boil a pint of water and then pour over one head of lettuce. Steep (covered) for 15 minutes. Strain and sweeten the liquid (to your liking) and drink. This home remedy will keep you hydrated and in some people, has promoted a restful night of sleep.
Add one teaspoon of basil and ¼ teaspoon of black pepper to one cup of hot water to make a tea to treat feverish conditions. Sweeten the tea with one teaspoon of honey and drink two to three times a day.
Add one teaspoon each of oregano and marjoram to a pint of boiling water to create a fever-reducing tea. Steep the ingredients for 30 minutes, strain, and then drink warm a couple of times per day.
If you see that the fever is not coming down you must take the child to the doctor and also use some medicine to reduce the fever if these home remedies doesn't help.
